Box Score 2 Greensboro, N.C. - The Meredith volleyball team traveled to Greensboro College to take on Mary Baldwin in the first round of the USA South Volleyball Tournament. The #7 Avenging Angels took the match 3-0 over the Fighting Squirrels to advance to the quarterfinal round against #2 seed Greensboro. The Pride dropped the first set to Meredith but then took the next three to win the match 3-1. With the loss, Meredith (15-18) completes their season after a seventh place finish in the USA South.
First Round
Meredith 3, Mary Baldwin 0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-16) - Meredith rolled to a three set sweep of Mary Baldwin in the first round. The Avenging Angels were led by senior Mallory Booker with 10 kills and 16 digs. Leanne Burton had six kills and four service aces.
Quarterfinals
Greensboro 3, Meredith 1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-14) - Meredith and Greensboro faced off again for the second time in four days. The Avenging Angels and Pride remained tied in the first set at 18-all. Meredith scored seven of the last 11 points to finish the set with the win 25-22. The Pride answered in the second set as they led the entire time in a close set winning 25-21. The third set saw Meredith take a 12-10 lead before Greensboro went on a six point run on their way to a 25-19 victory. Set four, and Meredith's seventh set on the night, had Greensboro leading the whole way to a 25-14 win and the 3-1 match victory.
Meredith was led by Cori Spade with 15 kills and 14 digs. Burton had nine kills and 15 sets, while Clarke Glendenning led the Angels with 19 assists. MaryBeth Finegan had 23 digs.
