Newport News, Va. - The Meredith volleyball team gained a conference split at Newport News on Sunday.  The Avenging Angels were swept 3-0 by Christopher Newport in the opener and took Ferrum 3-1 in the second match.

Chris. Newport 3, Meredith 0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-15) - The Captains took the game in straight sets.  Meredith was led by Molly Markley with eight kills.  Kara Baughman had 15 digs and nine assists.

Meredith 3, Ferrum 1 (25-14, 25-14, 20-25, 25-21) - Meredith took sets one, two and four to gain the victory and split on the weekend.  Markley led with 10 kills and four blocks.  Baughman had 16 assists and MaryBeth Finegan had 19 digs.

Meredith returns to action on Wednesday as they travel across town to take on rival Peace College. The match begins at 7 p.m.
