Box Score 2 Staunton, Va. - The Meredith volleyball team gained a USA South Conference split on Sunday. The Avenging Angels defeated Mary Baldwin 3-1, then lost to Averett 3-1.
Meredith 3, Mary Baldwin 1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-10, 25-18) - Meredith (9-4, 3-2 USA South) took game one easily 25-16, but then the Fighting Squirrels tied things up with a tight 25-23 win. The Avenging Angels then won the third and fourth sets to take the match. Cori Spade had 18 kills and seven digs. Molly Markley had 10 kills to go with one block. Kara Baughman has a team high 22 assists and Emily Anderson had 20 digs to lead Meredith
Averett 3, Meredith 1 (25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17) - The Cougars took games one, two and four to take the match 3-1 from Meredith. The Avenging Angels took game three in a close 25-23 match. Spade led Meredith in kills with 19 and she pulled up 10 digs. Markley had 13 kills and two blocks. Clarke Glendenning led Meredith with 21 assists and Anderson had 15 digs.
Meredith next travels to Methodist on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. conference match.
