RALEIGH, N.C. - In spite of double-digit kills from senior Cori Spade at 15 and junior Molly Markley at 10, the Avenging Angels (6-3) took a 3-1 loss in tonight's home opener versus N.C. Wesleyan (3-5). Set scores were 23-25, 10-25, 25-22, and 13-25.

Meredith put the pressure on early pushing the first frame to near even scoring. But a surge from the visitor's frontline complete with 15 kills and just one error in .667 hitting left the Avenging Angels quickly down by two.

MC captured the third frame to avoid a sweep but the Bishops' offense proved too much for the Angels. 

Senior setter Kara Baughman tallied 17 assists while her counterpart junior Clarke Glendenning dished out 11. Jessi Johnson picked up 14 digs in the loss.

Meredith hosts Greensboro College one week from tonight on September 19 in the team's second of three non-conference battles versus USA South opponents.
