LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Avenging Angels opened the 2012 season with three wins at the Lynchburg College Invitational. Meredith's only loss came to the host on Saturday.

MC defeated Randolph in the tournament opener 3-2 before losing 3-0 to host Lynchburg. The Angels picked up a pair of three-set wins Sunday defeating Mary Baldwin and Randolph.

Junior middle Molly Markley led her team with 43 kills on the weekend, averaging 3.31 each set. Teammate Jasmine Aguianaldo picked up 18 kills in her debut with the Angel frontline, adding a team high 41 digs and 18 blocks.

Kara Baughman offered up 65 assists while Jessi Johnson notched 35 digs for her squad.

Meredith travels next weekend to the Hollins Invitational with matches Saturday versus Hollins and Wesleyan (Ga.) Action Sunday includes Va. Weslyan and Emory & Henry.
