RALEIGH, N.C. - The Avenging Angels lacrosse team (4-5, 3-3 USA South) held a 2-1 lead over visiting Greensboro College (2-8, 2-1 USA South) in the first five minutes of play but trailed the rest of the way in the 12-7 loss at home.

Both teams observed a moment of silence prior to the match in memory of Seton Hill Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Kristina Quigley, who died in a fatal accident Saturday, March 16, during a team trip. Quigley's unborn child and the bus driver died in the crash as well.

The Pride opened the 5 p.m. event with a quick unassisted score from Brittany Ziobro, but Meredith's Katie Burnet fed Eliza Evans and Lottie Meadows for back-to-back goals to put the Avenging Angels in the lead at 25:12.

Kayla Gonzalez and match-leader Kristin Norris netted the next four goals between them to put GC back on top with just 7:29 remaining in the half.

MC's Meadows scored on a free position attempt in the final 95 seconds of first-half action to give the Avenging Angels a boost going into the intermission.

Meredith traded goals with the visitors during the second half but would never break the two-point barrier. Burnet netted the final point for her team with 12 minutes remaining in regulation.

The Pride secured the conference win with a trio of goals to close out the match.

Burnet led Meredith with four points, including three assists and posted a match-high five draw controls. Meadows, Lee and Evans netted a pair of goals apiece in the loss. Keeper Andie Stuber picked up six saves on the day.

The Pride's Gonzalez posted five goals in the win and Ziobro finished the day with seven points for GC on four goals and three assists.

Meredith hosts Sweet Briar Thursday evening in a 6:30 p.m. non-league pairing.
