RALEIGH, N.C. - Meredith College Athletics has announced the promotion of longtime lacrosse coach Lauren Scott to Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Affairs, where she will take on an expanded role within the athletic department while maintaining her post as Head Lacrosse Coach.

In her new role, Scott will provide leadership in several key areas of the department, including staff culture and mentorship, student-athlete development, recruiting strategy, coach mentorship, special events, NCAA programs and grant initiatives, and sport oversight.

Scott  will play a central role in advancing the department's recruiting efforts while strengthening internal operations and supporting the day-to-day success of Meredith Athletics. Scott joins the department's administrative leadership team after more than a decade of building one of the premier NCAA Division III women's lacrosse programs. She brings extensive experience in recruiting, program development, organizational leadership, and fostering a positive culture, all of which will help support the continued growth of Meredith Athletics.

"Lauren has been an integral part of Meredith Athletics for many years, and this promotion reflects the impact she has had on our department and the trust we have in her leadership," Athletic Director Fiona Barkley said. "She works tirelessly in service of our department and is always looking for ways to make Meredith Athletics better. Her collaborative approach, genuine care for others and ability to build strong relationships have earned the respect of our coaches, staff and student athletes. Having built one of the conference's premier lacrosse programs, Lauren brings valuable experience in program development and leadership that will strengthen our department and help support the continued growth and success of Meredith Athletics."

Since launching Meredith's women's lacrosse program, Scott has transformed the Avenging Angels into one of the most successful programs in the South. Entering her 15th season as head coach, she owns a 193-70 career record and has guided Meredith to 21 conference championships, including 12 consecutive USA South conference tournament titles and nine regular season championships. Her teams have earned national recognition throughout her tenure, while her student-athletes have claimed nine USA South Player of the Year honors, seven Rookie of the Year awards and numerous all-region and All-America accolades. Scott has also been named USA South Coach of the Year eight times.

The 2026 season marked another milestone in Scott's coaching career as Meredith led NCAA Division III in scoring offense and scoring margin while finishing among the nation's leaders in several statistical categories. Reese Walker and Kenzie Todd earned USA Lacrosse All-America honors after outstanding seasons that placed them among the nation's individual leaders.

Prior to arriving at Meredith, Scott spent eight seasons as the head girls' lacrosse coach at Danbury High School in Connecticut, where she transformed the program into a state championship contender and earned multiple Coach of the Year honors. A standout student-athlete at Western Connecticut State University, Scott remains one of the most accomplished players in school history.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Western Connecticut State University and also holds a teaching certificate and a minor in Exercise Science from Southern Connecticut State University.
