Box Score 2 SALEM, Va. - The Meredith College volleyball team wrapped up the Roanoke Invitational Saturday afternoon with a five-set thriller over the host Maroons (14-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 15-12). The Avenging Angels defeated Hollins University in four sets to start off the day (25-8, 15-25, 25-15, 25-20).
Katelyn Rall topped all with 10 kills in the win over Hollins. Karlie Long tallied eight kills and four digs, and Emery McGee and Keegan Lynch combined for 24 digs.
After defeating Hollins in Saturday's opening match, Meredith and Roanoke battled in a five-set thriller in favor of the Angels.
Long led a trio of Avenging Angels who finished with double-digit kills. Long tallied 14, Jasmine Aguinaldo posted 11 kills with nine blocks, and Emily Hendricks finished with 11. The duo of Lynch and McGee gathered 37 digs to lead Meredith to victory.
Rookie setter Hannah Blaylock tallied 58 assists on the day, and Katie Keen added 15 versus Hollins and a pair in the win over the Maroons.
The Avenging Angels open the USA South season Tuesday playing host to the Methodist Monarchs. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gymnasium.
