Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. -- In Saturday's Dig Pink event and USA South Play Day, the Meredith College volleyball team opened with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-21) sweep over league leader Covenant, followed by a 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 21-25, 21-25) loss to the Maryville Scots.
Today's conference action capped off the regular season with USA South Tournament seedings now in place. All three rounds of the league tournament will be hosted by the top-seeded Covenant Scots. The North division's second-seeded Angels pair off with the South's third-seeded Piedmont Lions Friday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. in the Barnes Physical Education Center.
Meredith opened the Halloween Play Day with a dominant effort over Covenant. Senior Emily Hendricks demonstrated a career effort with 14 kills on .444 hitting to close out her four years in Weatherspoon Gymnasium. Teammate and fellow senior Jasmine Aguinaldo was perfect from the middle with six kills and no errors hitting .600 in the win.
Emery McGee led with a match-high nine digs, adding a pair of assists and one service ace, while Hannah Blaylock dished out a match-high 37 assists.
After a two-game break, the Avenging Angels returned to the court to fall short to the Maryville Scots. After edging the Scots by two points to take a 1-0 lead, the visitors finished off Meredith with balanced hitting across the front line.
Karlie Long led the match with a dozen kills, and Hendricks posted her second double-digit effort on the day with 11. McGee led with 11 digs, and Blaylock tallied 28 assists.
