Box Score LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The North's second-seeded Meredith College volleyball Angels fell 3-1 (18-25, 27-25, 19-25, 19-25) to the South's top-seeded Covenant Scots in the second semifinal pairing of the USA South Conference Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon. The Scots went on to defeat Maryville in the finals to capture their first league championship.
After dropping the first set, Meredith battled back to edge the Scots to tie the match. But a determined Covenant squad with a home court advantage managed to finish off the Avenging Angels in four.
Alex Hafliger tallied half of Meredith's total blocks with four solos and three assists and earned placement on the USA South Volleyball All-Tournament team. Karlie Long led the Angels with 11 kills and as many digs, and libero Emery McGee notched a season-high and match-high 29 digs.
