Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - Rookie Carlee Joseph scored a career-high nine goals and Victoria Doyle a career-high nine draw controls to lead Meredith lacrosse to a 20-9 win over the visiting Centre Colonels Thursday night.
Leading the Angels with 53 points on the season, Joseph's nine goals tonight tied the program's single game record set last spring by Katie Burnet. Her seven assists tallied earlier in the season versus Huntingdon remain the new Meredith record.
Jennifer Halvorson scored four goals with one assist, and Alison Reisert tied her season-high of three goals. Danielle Lee notched a pair of goals and one assist, and Lynsi Beers tallied three points on two assists, one goal. Meghan Brooks notched five saves in her 52:14 in goal for Meredith, and Griffin Hewett entered with 7:56 left in the match.
Centre's Emily Madden and Audrey Powers tallied four goals apiece, and Allison Eisner posted her fifth loss in goal for the Colonels.
The Avenging Angels scored the first four points of the match and followed with five of the next seven to extend their early lead to 9-2 at 15:49. Centre put together a 3-1 run through the next 7:46, but Reisert capped off the half with back-to-back winners to give Meredith a 12-5 advantage heading into the break.
Reisert and Joseph each netted a free position attempt to open the second half, before Halvorson advanced Meredith's effort scoring the next two goals.
Centre's Powers found the net on a pair of strikes as the Colonels notched a 4-2 run to pull to within single digits with 4:08 left in regulation.
Joseph drove in for an unassisted goal under the two-minute mark, and Beers fed Doyle in the final minute of play to give Meredith their first victory in four games.
The Avenging Angels will celebrate their seniors Saturday afternoon prior to the 2 p.m. contest versus USA South foe Ferrum College. Fans should arrive by 1:40 to enjoy the presentation. The conference match-up marks the first in a three-game conference series for Meredith as the league tournament approaches.
