Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- Senior right side hitter Elizabeth Pattison notched an impressive .846 hitting percentage with 11 kills in just 13 attempts and no errors to lead the Meredith College volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-10) victory over the visiting Ferrum Panthers Saturday afternoon. The win marked MCVB's 12th consecutive to move to 12-0 in USA South play.
The Angels trailed for just five points in today's sweep. The remainder of the day Meredith handled the Panthers without much issue.
In the opening frame a Pattison kill at 5-3 launched an 8-0 run complete with four stuffs and a service ace from Haley Reeg. MCVB maintained the gap until a 5-1 Panther rally pulled the visitors to within four, but a pair of winners from Reeg and Caroline Corey helped finish off the set in favor of Meredith.
Set two opened with a 4-2 Ferrum advantage, but Pattison landed another kill to bring Jessica Goodwin to the service line. Karlie Long earned back-to-back points, and Hannah Blaylock paired with Alex Hafliger for a stuff. Goodwin capped off the run with an ace, and Ferrum called for a break in the action.
A 5-1 Panther run pulled the visitor's to within three at 16-13, but another Pattison winner launched a 9-2 series to give the Angels a two-set lead.
The Avenging Angels dominated the final set as the MCVB triple block unsettled Ferrum's attack. Pattison continued to put down winners for Meredith, and Tyler Bryan and Cathy Delano entered the match to help finish off the Panthers.
Pattison tallied six blocks, and Halfiger added five to go along with eight kills. Long notched nine winners, and Corey finished with six. Blaylock added 30 assists to her career total, and Keegan Lynch led the way with nine digs.
Ferrum's Cheyenne Strickland recorded 17 assists, and Hannah Helbert led the Panthers with eight kills.
Meredith hosts Greensboro College Tuesday night in a USA South event. Introductions are slated to begin at 7 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gym.
