Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Meredith College volleyball Angels closed out opening weekend with two more wins for an overall record of 4-0.MCVB started with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-16) sweep over the Mounties of Mount Aloysius College and capped off Saturday's action with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-16) victory over the tournament host Marlins.
Rookie Caroline Corey led the day with 30 kills, adding 15 digs and a trio of blocks. Karlie Long finished with 25 kills, adding four digs and a pair of blocks, and Alex Hafliger notched 19 kills in 33 attempts with 10 blocks. Hannah Blaylock dished out 67 assists with four service aces and six digs, and Katie Keen shared the job versus Mt. Aloysius with 15 assists, four aces, and five digs. Keegan Lynch led the defenders with 34 digs, and Jessica Goodwin combined for 19.
Meredith travels to Laurinburg, North Carolina, to face off with the NAIA's St. Andrew's Knights Thursday evening before returning to Raleigh next weekend for a tri-match with St. Augustine's and Guilford on the campus of William Peace.
