Tennis Opens with Loss to Elon

DURHAM, N.C. -- The Meredith College (0-1) tennis squad opened the spring season with a tough match versus a seasoned NCAA Division I team in the Elon University Phoenix (4-2). The team's gathered at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center in Durham.

The Avenging Angels earned just two games off Elon beginning with no. 1 doubles partners Cailin Goff and Laura Anne Hatcher. Rookie Gillian Emerson picked up a game in her first set at no. 2 singles.

Meredith returns to action in 10 days at the University of Mary Washington. The Saturday morning contest will be the first this spring for the Eagles.
