Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College midfielder Holly Hite collected a career-high 12 draw controls to help the Avenging Angels control Saturday's 23-3 victory over the USA South's LaGrange Panthers. Carlee Joseph led the match with five goals.
Fifteen Angels contributed to today's point total, including defenders Katie Sills, Cameron Ruffin, and Alyssa Codispoti. Julie Capretti tallied five total points on two goals, three assists, and Molly Miller dished out four assists with one goal. Hite, Julie-Anne Pretty, and Sarah Arbes notched a pair of goals apiece.
On the defensive side Codispoti and Olivia Higgs tallied three ground balls each, and Codispoti, Ruffin, Arbes, and Natalie Purcell recorded a pair of caused turnovers apiece in the win.
The Avenging Angels assumed control of the game in the early seconds scoring five goals before the 28-minute mark. Meredith would go on to score three more before Panther Davida White found the net at 22:53. LaGrange scored twice more during the first period, including a late goal from Rachael Thomas, but MC Lax still held a 14-3 advantage heading into the break.
Meredith added nine more goals in the second half and finished out the match in a stall pattern versus their USA South opponent.
Sydney Hardee started the match in goal to earn her second win of the season, and Haley Whitfield entered at the start of the second period to close out the victory. Kallie Brook took the loss for LaGrange.
The Avenging Angels host Huntingdon Sunday afternoon to cap off the weekend conference doubleheader. Head Coach Lauren Scott and her crew will recognize Meredith's four seniors prior to the match beginning about 1:40 p.m. First draw is slated for 2 p.m. on the Meredith turf.
