Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball squad handled the visiting Pfeiffer Falcons in a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-12) sweep in front of a hometown crowd Wednesday evening. Hannah Blaylock led the Angels with 18 assists and five kills with three service aces.
With Blaylock directing traffic for Meredith, the Avenging Angels made quick work of new USA South member Pfeiffer. She dished out a match-high seven kills to Caroline Corey, including six in the final set. Alex Hafliger landed five kills from the middle and dominated the net with four blocks, including two solo stops placing her fourth among conference players.
Katie Keen led the back row with eight digs, and nine more Avenging Angels contributed to the defensive efforts. All 15 healthy players entered the contest tonight with Haley Reeg, Ally Copenhaver, and Elisabeth Smith notching a pair of kills apiece.
The Falcons struggled to handle the ball cleanly recording an unforgiving 13 errors deflating their attack. Bri Weber and Erin Errington led PU with four kills apiece, while Katie Anne Wilson and Emma Gray Beacham combined for 11 assists and 12 digs.
MCVB hosts a USA South Play Day Saturday kicking off at 10 a.m. versus Mary Baldwin and capping of the day at 4 p.m. with the Greensboro Pride. Pfeiffer returns to Weatherspoon to play GC and MBU at 12 and 2. Live stats and video will be available throughout the day.
