Avenging Angels Tame Monarchs, 3-0

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Led by 15 assists each from Lauren Grodi and Avery Bowman, the Meredith College volleyball team earned a USA South victory over Methodist University, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-16), Saturday afternoon at Weatherspoon Gymnasium. The win is the first home victory for the Avenging Angels this season.

 

Early in the first set, the Avenging Angels (10-6, 4-1 USA South) got back-to-back kills from junior Ally Copenhaver to take a 6-2 lead and never looked back. In the second set, Meredith jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead. Meredith would extend their lead to seven, 21-14, after a service ace by freshman Hailey Long.

 

During the third set, Meredith would build up a quick eleven point lead, 18-7, over the Monarchs (2-11, 1-4 USA South) en route to the sweep.

 

The Avenging Angels are back in action later this afternoon to complete their USA South tri-match at 4 p.m. versus Mary Baldwin.
