Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Lauren Scott collected her 100th career victory Sunday as the Avenging Angels cruised past Brevard 21-3 in USA South action. MC Lax followed the win with a victory over the Transylvania University Cardinals.
Game One
Meredith made quick work of the Tornados Sunday morning, reaching a 10-point differential within the first nine minutes to engage the running clock rule. Olivia Blake scored Meredith's first four goals, fed by Maya Flake for three consecutive points. Blake would score two more in the half to lead the match, while Flake tallied seven assists, adding one unassisted goal in the 19th minute of the match. She forced a pair of turnovers and collected two ground balls as well.
Henley Peatross, Lilia Cruz, Tori Witmer, and Kylie Phillips netted two apiece in the first half with Briana Petrusa, Faith Gray, and Ali Schuh getting in on the action as well.
Joy Deitrich tallied six saves in her second win on the season, and Carlie Henning stopped eight attempts in her fourth loss for the Tornados.
Game Two
The Avenging Angels outlasted Transy to capture their second win on the day and the third in a long four-match weekend. Lilia Cruz kicked off the match with a pair of quick goals, and Phillips fed Blake for a third to give the Angels a 3-0 advantage.
The Pioneers scored three of the next four to interrupt Meredith's run, but MC Lax added four more unassisted goals to spread the gap again. Transylvania stepped in once more, but Peatross closed out the half on a last second free position goal to give the Angels a 9-4 lead.
MC Lax remained steady and consistent through the last 30 minutes and held back the Pioneers for a win.
Cruz led all with six goals, adding one assist, and Blake finished with four and one. Flake tallied five points, and Peatross notched scored three goals. Natalie Purcell and Petrusa forced three Transy turnovers, and Brittany Wartman notched two, along with Ansley Harris and Meredith Sinkler.
Detrich finished with seven stops, and Abi Waldron tallied nine for the Pioneers. Waldron's replacement Elyse Blue collected four saves.
