Box Score 2 STAUNTON, Va. -- The Meredith College volleyball team picked up a pair of wins in a USA South Quad-Match, hosted by Mary Baldwin, on Saturday.
The Avenging Angels tallied a 3-1 win over Southern Virginia before finishing the day with a 3-0 sweep of Mary Baldwin.
In the first match, Whitney Bolton led with 11 kills on a .308 hitting percentage, while Lauren Bissette finished with nine kills on a .600 hitting percentage. Avery Bowman registered eight kills with 14 assists and six digs on the day.
Bailey Lucas led the team with 23 assists, while Lauren Phillips paced the team with 11 digs. Emily Emerson recorded seven digs and Madelyn Clark finished with five kills in the win.
In the 3-0 win against Mary Baldwin, Bissette and Bolton each finished with eight kills, while Sara Dees recorded seven kills and Bowman notched five kills. Lucas finished the match with 13 assists while Bowman registered 11.
Phillips led the way defensively with 11 digs, while Dees also recorded a pair of solo blocks.
Meredith sits in second in the USA South East division standings with a 9-2 record in conference games, just a half game behind the first-place Knights.
The Avenging Angels return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Salem beginning at 7 pm.
