Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball team extended its season-best win streak to seven matches as it defeated Salem, 3-0, in Weatherspoon Gymnasium on Thursday night.
With the win, the Avenging Angels remain in a tie for the top spot in the East division with Southern Virginia and sit at 17-6 overall with a 11-2 record in league play.
Lauren Bissette and Hailey Long each tallied nine kills in the win, while Long swung at a .538 clip and Bissette totaled seven blocks (three solo). Whitney Bolton finished with seven kills and Sara Dees added six kills to the scoresheet. Avery Bowman recorded 18 assists and also put down four kills, while Bailey Lucas fnished with 11 assists of her own.
Defensively, Lauren Phillips registered a game-high 13 digs and Emily Emerson and Hannah Jo Jablonski each finished with five digs. On the nets, Bowman added three total blocks, while Dees and Long each also tallied two total blocks.
The volleyball program returns to action Saturday, Oct. 23, for a USA South Tri-Match featuring matches against Pfeiffer and Greensboro set to begin in Weatherspoon Gymnasium at 12 pm.
