Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball team extended its season-long win streak to nine matches during a USA South tri-match at Weatherspoon Gym on Saturday.
The day also served as Senior Day for the team. Prior to the team's second match of the day, the warmup was paused to honor the team's four seniors: Whitney Bolton, Kenzie Moore, Bailey Lucas and Avery Bowman. All four student-athletes were a part of the 2018 USA South championship team and have been instrumental in the team's recent success.
The Avenging Angels posted a pair of sweeps defeating Pfeiffer 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-15) and Greensboro 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-21).
Against the Falcons to start the day, Bolton led the team with 11 kills, while Avery Bowman and Hailey Long finished with seven kills. Lauren Bissette tallied six assists in the win as well. Bailey Lucas led the way with 17 assists, while Bowman posted 12.
Lauren Phillips paced the team with 17 digs, and Bissette added three total blocks to her statline.
In the win against the Pride, Bissette and Bolton each recorded 11 kills, while Long contributed eight of her own on a .727 hitting percentage. Lucas and Bowman each finished with 19 assists as well.
Sara Dees finished with five total blocks (two solo) to add to her four kills. Phillips led the way again with 12 digs while Emily Emerson added 10 digs.
The Avenging Angels return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 26, on the road at William Peace beginning at 7 pm.
