BUENA VISTA, Va. -- The Meredith College field hockey team fell to Southern Virginia, 1-0, on Friday evening.

The Avenging Angels earned seven penalty corners but only got two shots on goal in the contest. 

The game winner was scored in the opening minutes of the second quarter by Rachel Emel.

Shae-Lynn Henderson finished with four saves on the five shots that she faced.

Meredith returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 3, for Senior Night against Southern Virginia beginning at 5 pm at the MC Athletic Complex.
