Avenging Angels Down Pacers, Advance to Tournament Semifinals

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep of William Peace in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament at Weatherspoon Gym on Tuesday night.

With the result, the Avenging Angels move on to face Maryville in the semifinals of the postseason tournament with the remaining semis- and championship match taking place on the campus of Southern Virginia. 

The Avenging Angels won 25-17, 25-22 and then wrapped up the match with a 25-23 third set. 

Leading the way offensively were Avery Bowman and Whitney Bolton who each finished with nine kills, while Lauren Bissette dropped in six of her own. Bailey Lucas led the way with 18 assists, while Bowman finished with 11 assists. 

Lauren Phillips finished with 16 digs, while Hannah Jo Jablonski had seven digs. Bissette added five total blocks to her statline, while Bowman recorded four total blocks and also six digs. She nearly accomplished her third triple-double in her last four matches.

The Avenging Angels, who are the No. 2 seed in the East, face Maryville, the No. 1 seed in the West, on Friday, Nov. 5, at 4 pm with hopes of advancing to the championship match on the following day.
