Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball team kicked off its conference schedule with a 3-0 win against Methodist in Weatherspoon Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
The Avenging Angels won 25-15, 25-20, 25-13 to improve to 7-4 on the year with a 1-0 mark in league play, while the Monarchs fall to 8-5 overall behind an 0-1 record in conference action.
Lauren Bissette hit at an impressive .565 clip and dropped in a game-high 14 kills to pace the home side, while Whitney Bolton put down 11 kills. Madelyn Clark recorded six kills and Avery Bowman and Sara Dees each finished with five kills. Bowman also finished with a game-best 33 assists and Lauren Phillips helped out with eight assists of her own.
Defensively, Phillips led the game with 21 digs, while Bowman and Hannah Jo Jablonski each registered nine digs. Bowman and Bissette each finished with a pair of block assists as well.
Additionally, Martin-Maine Wrangell finished with three kills, an assist, three service aces and six digs.
For the Monarchs, Erica East led the team with seven kills, while Geneva Barriger had six kills. Hannah Hewett had 20 assists, while Janie Harmelink tallied 15 digs.
Meredith is back in action this weekend for a USA South quad match. The Avenging Angels will take on Southern Virginia and Mary Baldwin on the campus of Southern Virginia.
