Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College field hockey team returned to action against Ferrum on Thursday evening at the Meredith Athletic Complex.
The Avenging Angels fell, 5-0, to the Panthers in the two teams' second contest of the season. Meredith moved to 0-4 on the year, while the Panthers snap a five-game losing streak and improve to 3-5.
Ferrum scored twice in the game's opening seven minutes, but were held off the board for the remainder of the quarter. Early in the second period, the Panthers struck again and took a 3-0 advantage into the break. Ferrum scored twice more, both early in the third quarter to reach the eventual 5-0 final score.
Tylena Brown recorded three shots on goal, while Lizzy Herrera-Mendez also tallied a scoring chance. The best scoring moment of the night for the Avenging Angels came when a shot from Bella Allen rolled just wide of the left post.
Shae-Lynn Henderson stopped 21 shots in goal in the loss. She entered today's game second in all of Division III in saves per game at 19.33 with the stat increasing to 19.75.
In the game, Ferrum held a 7-4 advantage in penalty corners.
The Avenging Angels are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 25, as they travel to face Randolph-Macon beginning at 3 pm.
