Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, Va. -- The Meredith College volleyball program split a pair of contesta at a USA South Quad Match, hosted by Southern Virginia, on Saturday.
The Avenging Angels defeated Mary Baldwin, 3-0, before falling to the host Knights, 3-1.
Against Mary Baldwin, Lauren Bissette and Whitney Bolton each finished with nine kills, while Sara Dees recorded six kills. Avery Bowman notched 19 assists to go along with five kills and seven digs, and Madelyn Clark finished with six kills in the win.
Defensively, Lauren Phillips led the match with 15 digs, while Bissette put down five total blocks.
In a 3-1 loss to Southern Virginia, six Avenging Agnels tallied at least six kills, including Dees who led with eight kills. Bissette finished with six kills and five blocks, while Hailey Long, this week's reigning USA South Player of the Week, recorde six kills as well.
Phillips finished with 21 digs in the loss, while the team combined for 14 total blocks.
The Avenging Angels return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 29, on the road at Salem beginning at 7 pm.
