VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Meredith College field hockey team fell to Virginia Wesleyan, 6-0, on Tuesday evening.

The Marlins picked up a pair of goals in the game's first nine minutes to go up 2-0. Va. Wesleyan added a pair in the second quarter and went into the recess with a 4-0 lead. 

The Avenging Angels held the Marlins off the scoresheet in the third quarter, but VWU added a pair in the final frame to take a 6-0 win.

Shae-Lynn Henderson stopped 23 shots, including 11 saves in the third quarter. Emma Wehr and Maura Bridges split time in goal in the victory.

The Avenging Angels return home on Friday, Oct. 1, for a 6 pm start with Southern Virginia.
