Box Score 2 Fayetteville, N.C. - The Meredith volleyball program split a USA South tri-match Sunday afternoon falling in five sets to Greensboro College and sweeping Methodist University inside the March F. Riddle Center.
In the tough five set loss to Greensboro, Meredith fell 25-19, 21-25, 29-27, 24-26 and 5-15.
Senior Hailey Long led the way for the Avenging Angels with a game-high 25 kills while also adding 13 digs. Juniors Hannah Jo Jablonski and Lauren Bissette contrubited with a team-high 28 digs from Jablonski and 16 kills from Bissette.
Freshman setter Lillie Davis tallied a double-double with 43 assists and 21 digs in the five-set thriller. The match had 46 different lead changes or ties throughout.
In the 3-0 sweep of Methodist, the Avenging Angels handled the first two sets 25-18 and 25-14. The third set went right down to the wire where they had to score 30 points to complete the sweep.
Long had another double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs while Bissette added 11 kills. Sophomores Martin-Maine Wrangell and Sara Dees tallied 11 and nine kills, respectivly.
Davis earned another double-double with 21 assists and 10 digs while sophomore Ali Polidori led the team in assists with 22. Jablonski led the team with 15 digs while freshman Lexie House added 10.
Meredith is back in action Tuesday when they travel down the road to cross town rival William Peace for a 7 p.m. match.
