Field hockey drops tight game against Sweet Briar

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith field hockey program scored its first goal of the season in a 4-1 defeat to Sweet Briar College Wednesday night at the Meredith Athletic Track & Field Complex.

Sophomore Cynthia Styron Sanchez put the Avenging Angels on the board for the first time in 2022 after catching a rebound off the post and finding the back of the net.

The Avenging Angels trailed 3-0 at the half after giving up three first quarter goals. Sophomore goalie Shae-Lynn Henderson tallied 16 saves for Meredith which included two scoreless quarters from the Vixens.

Meredith came alive in the second half earning two shots and their lone corner in the third quarter.

The Avenging Angels are back in action Friday when they travel to Sewanee at 7 p.m.
