Box Score Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Meredith volleyball team traveled to Salem College for the first round of the USA South tournament Tuesday night where they fell short 3-2.
Meredith (20-12) split the first two sets with Salem (21-9) before dropping a thriller of a third set 27-25. The Angels took the fourth set 25-20 with their backs against the wall but dropped the final set 15-4.
The nations leader in hitting percentage, junior Lauren Bissette, led all players with 21 kills. Senior Hailey Long in her last game as an Angel tallied a double-double with 18 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore Emma Duncan added seven kills as well.
Defensively, Junior Hannah Jo Joblonski had a game-high in digs with 37. The defensive strategy was all hands on deck as sophomore Emily Emerson added 15 digs and freshman Lexie House earned 13.
Reighning rookie of the week Lillie Davis posted 43 assists and six digs to conclude her freshman campaign.
The Angels finished the season with 20 wins for the fourth time in the past five years.
