Box Score ASHLAND, VA – The Meredith lacrosse teams wrapped up spring break on the road versus the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. Freshman Olivia Verlinden and junior Tori Witmer got Meredith on the scoreboard in the first quarter with a score of 4-1 at the 00:54 mark. However, a Meredith turnover soon after gave the Yellow Jackets a free position shot landing them a goal. Randolph-Macon scored one more right at the horn closing, giving Meredith a 4-3 lead at the end of the first.
Early in the second quarter, Meredith's Witmer scored again pushing the Angels up 5-3 over the Yellow Jackets. Throughout the second and third quarters, the teams exchanged points including six ties and three lead changes. As the middle of the fourth approached, Meredith gained a three-point spread. However, as they had done the entire game, the teams continued to battle ending the fourth quarter tied, sending them into overtime. In the end, the Angels fell 14-15 to the Yellow Jackets.
Freshmen Olivia Verlinden who earned a career-high 6 goals led the Meredith offense. Sophomore Kamryn Muschette and junior Meredith Sinkler had 2 caused turnovers apiece. Angels' goalies Madeline Horrell and Mackenzie Bianchi split time in the cage.
Meredith is on the road again Wednesday for USA South Conference match-up against the Averett University Cougars.
