Box Score 2 Raleigh, N.C. -- Meredith College lacrosse opened up on Saturday with a 10-4 win over the University of Lynchburg. Meredith jumped out to an early lead scoring four unanswered goals.
Jessica Dowdy led the Angels with four goals and one assist. Kylie Phillips added 2 goals, while Olivia Verlinden, Tori Witmer, Kayleigh Murphy, and Arrianna May each added one goal to help secure the win. Meredith Sinkler helped strengthen the attack for the Angels collecting three groundballs while causing three turnovers.
The Avenging Angel defense also had a strong showing. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Bianchi finished with a 69% save percentage with nine saves, five ground balls and one interception.
Meredith returned to the field on Saturday afternoon, to take on the Pfeiffer Falcons in a USA South Conference match-up. The Angels continued to display solid offense, as they won their second game of the day 19-6. Ten different Angels contributed to the scoring for Meredith.
Kylie Phillips led the Avenging Angels with six goals and one assist. Frannie Rosone added seven groundballs and four caused turnovers in the game. Meredith saw another strong performance in goal, as Madeline Horrell had seven saves to help the Angels earn the win.
Meredith lacrosse will return to the field on Wednesday as they take on NC Wesleyan in another USA South match-up. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
