Soccer drops tight rivalry match against William Peace

CARY, N.C. - The Meredith soccer program dropped a tightly contested match against cross town rival William Peace 1-0 Wednesday night at Wake Med Soccer Park.

The Angels seemed to dominate in every facet of the game but just came up short. In the first half, Meredith out shot Peace 10-2 but the teams headed to the halftime break scoreless. Meredith out shot the Pacers 19-6 for the game and earned seven more corner kick chances.

William Peace scored in the 57th minute of the second half to take the lead which proved to be the difference in the match.

Fifth year Kasey Wilkins earned two saves in goal while freshman Claire Wagner led the attack with five shots and three being on goal.

With the result, the Angels drop their first USA South contest on the season and move to 2-1-2 in the USA South with an overall record of 3-3-5.
