Box Score Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith lacrosse program fell 17-10 to the University of Mary Washington Wednesday night at the Meredith Track & Field Complex.
Mary Washington (4-0) jumped out to a 6-2 lead at the end of the first quarter of play. Meredith (1-2) was able to weather the storm outscoring Mary Washington 3-2 in the second quarter and trailed 8-5 at halftime.
Freshman Reese Walker scored one of those goals in the second while sophomore Lauryn Turner tallied both her goals in the game in the second as well. Walker finished the game with two total goals while Turner added four ground balls and two draw controls.
The Angels once again outscored Mary Washington in the third quarter 4-3 and took a 9-8 lead after a goal from junior Jessica Dowdy who also had an assist on the night.
Meredith ran out of gas as Mary Washington outscored them 6-1 in the final quarter of action to close them out.
Senior Kylie Phillips added two goals while junior Arrianna May tallied three goals, one assist, nine draw controls, and two ground balls. Defensively, junior Madeline Horrell earned eight saves in goal and senior Meredith Sinkler caused two turnovers while grabbing two ground balls.
The Angels are back in action at home, Mon. March 6th, when they host Bryn Mawr at 4 p.m.
