BREVARD, N.C. - The Meredith lacrosse program opened up USA South play with a 20-4 victory over Brevard College Tuesday afternoon.
Meredith (4-2, 1-0 USA South) jumped out on Brevard (4-2, 0-1 USA South) at 8-0 in the first quarter of action.
Three different Angels found the back of the net in the first and six for the total game. Junior Jessica Dowdy scored three of her four goals in the first quarter while sophomore Lauyrn Turner scored four of her five goals in the first to kickstart the Meredith offense.
Meredith took a two-touchdown lead of 14-0 into the halftime break.
Seniors Tori Witmer and Kylie Phillips both added four goals each while Witmer tallied two assists and Phillips with one. Freshman Brooke Blades scored two goals and accounted for one assist.
Defensively, senior Meredith Sinkler earned two caused turnovers and two groundballs. Sophomore Allison June Mabe led the team with five ground balls.
Meredith is back in action Saturday, March 18th, when they host Randolph-Macon at 1 p.m.
