Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith lacrosse program began the USA South Conference Tournament with a 20-0 win over North Carolina Wesleyan College Tuesday afternoon at the Meredith Track & Field Complex.
The No. 1 seeded Angels scored nine first-quarter goals and led the No. 8 seed Battling Bishops 16-0 at halftime to roll to victory. Meredith saw six different Angels find the back of the net and caused 15 turnovers defensively.
Sophomore Lauryn Turner led the charge with six goals while senior Tori Witmer was right behind her with five. Witmer also added four ground balls and an assist.
Freshman Reese Walker notched seven assists while also scoring two. She also picked up six ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Reigning USA South Player of the Week Kylie Phillips and junior Jessica Dowdy combined for five goals and 18 draw controls.
Meredith will host the Semifinals and Conference Championship this weekend. The Angels will tangle with Methodist Friday at 3 p.m. followed by Southern Virginia and Piedmont at 6 p.m. The winners will play for the USA South Championship at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
