RALEIGH, N.C. - The Avenging Angels soccer program took down Pfeiffer 4-2 Wednesday night at the Meredith Track & Field Complex to open up USA South action.
Three second half goals helped Meredith start USA South play 1-0.
Freshman
Haley Vazquez started the scoring just five minutes into the match after graduate student
Audrey Taylor found her with a pretty through ball earning the assist. The Falcons knotted things up four minutes later after capitalizing on a penalty kick.
The teams headed into the halftime break tied 1-1.
In the 53rd minute the Angels regained the lead when freshman
Rachel Ward scored off an assist from fifth year
Morgan Thomas. Thomas and Ward were not done yet as 10 minutes later the roles were reversed as Ward found Thomas for another goal to extend the lead 3-1.
Junior
Meredith Warrick put the finishing touches on the night with a laser from outside the box to close out the victory for the Angels. Meredith out shot Pfeiffer 15-5 and earned eight more corners.
The Angels travel to Brevard this Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
