Box Score Raleigh, N.C. - Meredith Field Hockey returned home to celebrate the class of 2025 on Senior Day. The Angels hosted the Knights of Southern Virginia for their first matchup of the season. Senior Day, affectionately dubbed as Shae-Shae day, recognized the lone graduate of 2025, Goalkeeper
Shae-Lynn Henderson. With alumni, family and friends watching, the Angels rose to the occasion to take the lead in the series, 4-3.
How it Happened:
The Angels came out hungry against USA South rival, Southern Virginia. Just five and a half minutes into the opening quarter,
Maya Kirstein found the back of the net to set the tone of the match. Less than two minutes later,
Cambria Chandler sent a pass that provided the perfect opening for
Maya Kirstein to notch her second goal of the match. The Meredith offense kept up the pressure when
Charlotte Dyer broke through the Knights defense for a third goal with under four minutes to go.
Jordan Brooks wanted in on the action and collected a ball from
Carleigh Harris to record her first goal of the season and close out the period 4-0.
The Knights turned up their defense for the second period, keeping the Angels scoreless. Meredith held strong and maintained the shutout going into half time.
Six minutes into the third period, the Knights snuck past the Angels and tallied their single goal of the match. The rest of the period was a defensive battle that ended 4-1. The final period of the game continued the defensive battle with both teams putting up shots. The Angels mounted one last push before the end of the game, scoring with under two minutes left. Meredith versus Southern Virginia closed at 5-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Maya Kirstein recorded the first hat trick of her career, bringing her rookie year total to nine goals.
Cambria Chandler added two assists to her total, hitting five all time and tying for first in most career assists.
Jordan Brooks found the back of the net for the first time this season.
UP NEXT Meredith College Field Hockey will travel to St. Mary's College of Maryland for their first matchup in program history. The game is set to tip at 5:00 PM on October 17th.
