Raleigh, N.C. — On a beautiful afternoon in front of a packed crowd for Family Weekend, Meredith College hosted the Greensboro College Pride in an exciting soccer match at their home field. With strong fan support, the Meredith Avenging Angels fought hard but ultimately fell 3-1 to the Greensboro Pride.
Meredith College struck first, thrilling the packed stands with a goal just 9:07 into the game. Kathryn Angrave found the back of the net off a perfectly placed assist from Ellie Heney, giving the Avenging Angels a 1-0 advantage. The early lead energized the fans, who showed up in full force to support their team on this special weekend.
However, Greensboro College responded before halftime, equalizing the score at 1-1, setting the stage for an intense second half. Both teams battled back and forth, but it was the Pride who found a way to break through in the final 45 minutes, netting two more goals to secure a 3-1 victory.
Despite the final outcome, Meredith's effort and the passionate fan turnout made for an unforgettable atmosphere at the match. The Avenging Angels played with heart and determination, giving their supporters plenty to cheer for throughout the game.
Meredith will have a break during the week before returning to action on Saturday, October 28th, for a 2:00 p.m. matchup against USA South rival Salem College.
