ANGELS CLAIM 4-2 VICTORY OVER NC WESLEYAN

Angels Claim 4-2 Victory Over NC Wesleyan

Raleigh, N.C. — The Meredith College Avenging Angels claimed a commanding 4-2 victory over the NC Wesleyan Bishops in a USA South Conference matchup Wednesday night.

Meredith's offensive charge began with Rebecca Morrison opening the scoring at the 17:19 mark. Just over a minute later, Kate Conoley followed with a quick strike, netting the Angels' second goal at 18:36, giving them an early 2-0 lead. NC Wesleyan responded late in the first half, narrowing the gap to 2-1 as the teams headed into halftime.

The second half saw Meredith's momentum continue. Meredith Warrick found the back of the net early, extending the Angels' lead to 3-1. Less than a minute later, Conoley tallied her second goal of the night, sealing a strong offensive performance for the Angels and making it 4-1. NC Wesleyan managed a late goal, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, resulting in a 4-2 final score.

The Avenging Angels' defense worked tirelessly throughout the game, keeping NC Wesleyan's offense at bay and limiting their scoring opportunities. Their consistent effort, along with five key saves from goalkeeper Khalia Jones, played a crucial role in securing the 4-2 victory.

Meredith College will look to keep their momentum going as they return home to face Mary Baldwin on Saturday, October 5, at 2 p.m.
