Raleigh, N.C. – Meredith College soccer showcased a commanding performance today, securing a 2-0 victory over Mary Baldwin University in their annual Pink Out Game. The event, held in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is an important tradition for the Avenging Angels, who used the occasion to raise awareness for the cause while delivering an exceptional performance on the field.
From the opening whistle, Meredith set the pace, displaying aggressive play and dominating both ends of the field. The Avenging Angels launched 24 shots, 12 of them on target, giving Mary Baldwin's defense little room to breathe. The relentless pressure paid off in the 57th minute when Kate Conoley slotted the ball into the net, assisted by Rebecca Morrison, giving Meredith a well-deserved lead.
As the second half unfolded, Meredith continued to assert control over the game. The defense was steady and strong, making it tough for Mary Baldwin to create offensive chances. In fact, the Fighting Squirrels were held to just one shot for the entire match, thanks to a resolute Avenging Angels defense.
Rebecca Morrison, already pivotal with her assist in the first half, added a second goal for Meredith after an impressive solo effort, effectively putting the game out of reach. The victory marked another standout performance for the team, as their strong midfield control and cohesive teamwork were on full display throughout.
Meredith College will return to action on Tuesday, October 8, with a 7:00 PM match at Methodist University.
