GREENSBORO, NC – The Meredith College Avenging Angels faced a tough start to their 2024-25 basketball season, falling to the Guilford College Quakers, 104-49, in Saturday's season opener on the road.
The Avenging Angels found themselves in a challenging position after the first quarter, trailing 28-9. However, they rallied with a strong showing in the second, going nearly point-for-point with Guilford by scoring 25 points to the Quakers' 28. Though the Avenging Angels struggled to maintain that momentum in the second half, the team demonstrated promising potential and will look to grow as the season progresses.
Despite the final score, several Avenging Angels made noteworthy contributions. Transfer Pam Mock led the offensive efforts for Meredith, scoring a game-high 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Danae Hawkins added 13 points, while Rylie Wade was solid under the basket with a team-high eight rebounds. Paris Bethea contributed as well, leading the team with three assists.
Meredith College will have a quick turnaround as they hit the road again on Tuesday, November 12, to face Bob Jones University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
