Lacrosse drops heartbreaker against Bridgewater

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith lacrosse program dropped a tight 14-13 contest Wednesday night against Bridgewater College at the Meredith Track & Field Complex.

The Eagles (2-1) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before the Angels (0-2) cut that lead in half at the end of the first quarter. Between the end of the first quarter and halftime, Meredith outscored Bridgewater 9-3 giving them a 9-7 advantage at the break.

The Angels stretched that lead to three in the second half before the Eagles came storming back. Meredith was outscored 3-1 in the final quarter of action as the win slipped away.

The Angels went 15-16 on clears and turned the Eagles over 14 times. The big difference in the second half proved to be the draw control as Bridgewater took control of the game earning 10 compared to the Angels three.

Freshman Kenzie Todd and sophomore Reese Walker both scored four goals to lead the offense. Senior Arrianna May, in her first game back in over a year, scored three goals while adding two assists going two for two on free-position attempts.

Meredith is right back in action at home this Saturday, March 2nd, when they host Lynchburg at 1 p.m.
