RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith softball program dropped both games Saturday afternoon against Southern Virginia University with scores of 6-3 and 5-2.
Both offenses were on early in game one as a run was scored in each of the first three innings. Meredith didn't score a run after the third and made five errors in the game which proved to be the difference.
Sophomores
Avery Puryear,
Mariah Bell, and
Emilee Lewis all had two-hit games while Puryear picked up all three RBIs for Meredith. Senior
Sarah Manis also had two hits.
The Angels scored two runs in the first inning of game two but weren't able to tack on anymore for the rest of the game. Three runs in the seventh for Southern Virginia gave them the victory.
Manis and Puryear picked up an RBI each in the game.
Meredith is right back in action at home tomorrow when they host Brevard College with game one set for noon.
