Staunton, Va. - Meredith softball dropped both games against Mary Baldwin Univerity Saturday afternoon in USA South action. The Angels lost 3-1 and 3-2.
In game one, Mary Baldwin scored one run in each of the first three innings. Graduate senior
Hannah Weigle had three strikeouts in seven innings giving up three earned runs.
Meredith scored in the fourth inning after sophomore
Lillie Davis doubled and came around the score.
In game two, Davis only gave up two earned runs in an extra inning game while also striking out four. Mary Baldwin scored two in the first to take the lead before the Angels tied it up in the fourth.
In the fourth, sophomore
Avery Puryear, who had a couple of two-hit games on the afternoon singled in the fourth to start the rally. Later in the inning, senior
Savannah Talley doubled to score the first run. She had a two-hit game along with junior
Rheanne Burden.
Freshman
Rhyleigh Horne earned her first Avenging Angel RBI to tie the game. Mary Baldwin walked it off in the 8th inning to win the game.
Meredith is back in action on Wednesday, April 24th when they travel to Pfeiffer University with game one set for 2 p.m.
