RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith softball program made the short trip over to cross-town rival William Peace University Tuesday afternoon where they earned a big USA South road sweep taking game one 3-2 and game two 2-1.
Offense came at a premium all afternoon but the Angels struck first in game one. Sophomore
Tess Spangenburg, who had two hits in game one, singled in the third and later came around to score on an RBI single from fellow sophomore
Emilee Lewis.

Avery Puryear added to the Angels lead with a solo home run in the fourth. Graduate senior
Hannah Weigle earned the victory in the circle giving up only two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Sophomore
Lillie Davis came in to shut the door and earn the save. Davis, who started at second base also picked up a hit in the ballgame.
Davis continued to roll in the second game as she got the start in the circle, going seven innings, only giving up one run on four hits and striking out eight. Davis once again added a hit at the plate while also scoring the second run in the fourth inning.
Spangenburg picked up the first RBI in the fourth while freshman
Abby Fowler knocked in the second after a long battle at the plate.
Meredith is right back in action tomorrow for a USA South doubler header when they host Methodist University with game one set for 2 p.m.
