Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The Meredith College Avenging Angels volleyball team kicked off USA South Conference play with a victory on the road against NC Wesleyan University Battling Bishops with scores 25-16, 25-17 and 25-18. The team had a strong serving performance as they accumulated 9 aces for the match.Sophomore outside hitter Caitlyn Russell led the way with a standout double-double, recording 13 kills and 12 digs while hitting an impressive .440. Sophomore Kinley Copeland established herself on offense with a .353 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Emma Duncan also contributed offensively, adding 7 kills for the night.
On the defensive end, libero Hannah Jo Jablonski anchored the team with 14 digs, keeping the Battling Bishops' attack in check. The win marks a solid start for the Avenging Angels as they look to build momentum in conference play.
Meredith will return to Raleigh this Saturday to face Methodist University in another USA South matchup, with first serve set for 4:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team at home.
