RALEIGH, N.C. – The Meredith College volleyball team dropped a competitive four-set match to Methodist University on Saturday, with scores of 20-25, 25-18, 20-25, and 18-25. Despite a strong offensive performance from freshman Delaney Lowery, who led the Avenging Angels with 10 kills and an impressive .474 hitting percentage, Meredith was unable to overcome the Monarchs.
The Avenging Angels started slowly in the first set, falling behind early but rallying back before ultimately dropping the set 20-25. However, Meredith carried their late momentum into the second set, controlling play and securing a 25-18 win to even the match.
Methodist responded in the third set, regaining control to win 25-20 and continued their strong play in the fourth, closing out the match with a 25-18 victory.
Meredith will look to bounce back on Wednesday, Sept. 25, as they hit the road to take on cross-town rival William Peace University. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
