AVENGING ANGELS DEFENSE HOLDS ROANOKE TO SMALLEST POINT MARGIN IN MATCHUP HISTORY

Box Score Raleigh, NC - The Meredith Field Hockey team returned to the home field to host the Maroons of Roanoke College. On Wednesday, September 25th the Meredith defense fought to keep out the Maroons but ended the 60 minutes with a score of 0-4.

How it Happened:
? The Maroons got out to a quick start, scoring two goals in the first period of play. The Angels worked hard to create opportunities up field but were unable to convert in the circle.
? Natasha Elder and the Meredith defense held strong in the second period, allowing only three shots across the 15 minutes of play. This would be the strongest defensive period for the Angels with the lowest recorded shots by the Maroons.
? Roanoke came charging out against the Angels for the start of the third period, recording two more goals to solidify a four goal lead. Maya Kirstein tallied one shot on goal for Meredith but couldn't find the back of the cage.
? Meredith and Roanoke completed the final quarter in a stalemate; both leaving the match without tallying another point.

Meredith will hit the road Saturday September 28th to face off against Bridgewater College (VA) in Bridgewater, VA. The match is set for a 2:00 PM start.
