Box Score Bridgewater, VA - The Meredith Avenging Angels hit the road once again. On Saturday, September 28th the Angels faced off against the Eagles of Bridgewater College (VA). The matchup was the third meeting in program history and produced the first goal for the Angels against the Eagles.
Shae-Lynn Henderson tallied 22 saves to bring her career record to 700.
How it Happened:
- Meredith put the pressure on the Eagles right out of the gate, entering their circle in the first minute of play. However Bridgewater held strong and denied the Angels the opportunity to get on the board. The Eagles found their way through the Meredith defense and gained a 0-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The Angels came out in the second ready to defend the cage and keep Bridgewater at bay. Despite their best efforts, the Eagles found the back of the cage two more times, making it 0-6 going into half time.
- The Angels weren't ready to give up and came into the second half with a newfound fire. The Meredith defense allowed six less shots from the Eagles and only gave up a single goal before the final whistle blew.
- Meredith had one goal in mind before stepping on the field for the final quarter: score.
Cambria Chandler turned this into reality as she capitalized on a corner insert from
Catie Horn, sending a rocket into the back of the cage.
Sierra Grande made her 8th career defensive save to keep the Eagles out; however they refused to leave empty handed and put one more goal on
the board to conclude the match 1-8.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Shae-Lynn Henderson notched for 700th career save in today's matchup, recording a total of 22 stops for the Angels.
Cambria Chandler ended the drought for the Meredith Offense against the Eagles, tallying her first goal of the season.
Sierra Grande cushions her status as Defensive Save's leader with 8 overall.
UP NEXT
Meredith will head back up to Northern Virginia to challenge the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University. The game is set for a 4:00 PM start on October 2nd. The Angels are looking to take the lead in the series as they currently sit 1-1 against the Royals.
